The sanatorium “Smerichka” is situated in the best place of the eastern slope of the Carpathian Mountains, at a height of 900 m above sea level, in Opaka village of Drohobych district, Lviv region. History of the resort “Skhidnytsia” dates back to distant past. However, it became famous only in 1975 after investigation of the new spring of medicinal water “Naftusia”. In January 1976 the “Skhidnytsia” was officially recognized as the All-USSR resort. Investigations of many years have ascertained that the medicinal waters of the “Skhidnytsia” successfully cure diseases of kidneys and liver, salt diatheses, peracidity and hypoacidity of stomach, anaemia, pancreatic diabetes, osteochondrosis and many other diseases. In 2005 the “Skhidnytsia” has received the honorary title “the O.O. Stotskyi Balneological Resort”.
